Digital Compendium of Forestry Species of Cambodia is also known as “Digital Species” which is a user friendly software and database that allows user to search, view, combine and update tree species information. Furthermore, this is the first forestry software of Cambodia and this program can be used for training and education purpose and as a decision making tool in forestry, agroforestry, agriculture, land use planning and especially reforestation program. The description of more than 55 tree species of Cambodia was translated into Khmer language under the support of German Development Service (DED) in Cambodia and in addition, the glossary of forestry was also translated. The Khmer version of “Digital Compendium of Forestry Species of Cambodia” is going to launch at the end of this year (2007) and some free copies of this software will be distributed to educational institutes, NGOs, and other stakeholders. The new version of Digital Species of Khmer and English version will be released at the end of this year and both versions will also support Window Vista which is the latest operating system of Microsoft.
